Step by step to promotion
In general, different criteria and requirements apply to the various funding measures. For detailed information, please get in touch with the relevant contact person for the funding measure that applies to you.
The general provisions of the ERDF/JTF Framework Directive and the ancillary provisions (AnBest-EU) apply to all projects. Funding from the ERDF/JTF NRW 2021-2027 program is provided in the form of calls and competitions or via guideline funding. The calls and competitions are also divided into one-stage and two-stage procedures. In order to receive one of these grants, various steps are required:
This step is only relevant for a two-stage call or competition. Before the actual funding application, you submit a project outline in the online outline tool within a submission deadline. A review committee checks and evaluates it. The evaluation is based on selection criteria that are defined in the funding announcement for the respective funding measure. On this basis, the evaluation committee ranks all submissions and makes a recommendation as to which projects should receive funding. The submissions recommended for funding on this basis will receive an invitation to submit an application via the ERDF application portal. You must submit the application within three months.
In the case of a two-stage call or competition, you submit your funding application in the ERDF application portal within a specified period following the call for applications.
In the case of a one-stage call or competition, you submit your application in the ERDF application portal within the submission deadline. A review committee then examines and evaluates all applications on the basis of the selection criteria set out in the funding announcement, which are of a legal, economic, technological and social nature. The evaluation committee makes a recommendation as to which projects should be funded. For these, the approval procedure follows directly.
For guideline funding, the principle applies: first come, first served. You can submit applications directly in the ERDF application portal. Your project must meet the funding purpose and the criteria set out in the relevant funding guideline and which the ERDF/JTF Monitoring Committee has established as selection criteria.
For the contributions recommended for funding in a call or competition, an approval procedure follows. In the case of guideline funding, your project will receive a funding commitment (approval) if it meets the decisive criteria and sufficient funding is available in the state budget.
At the end of this procedure, you will receive a grant notification with information on:
- Amount and type of grant
- Time period for implementing your project
- Conditions and requirements
Funding approved and then what?
Has the funding for your project been approved? Congratulations! There are still various specifications and requirements to be observed - for example with regard to personnel expenses and communication around your project. You can find all the relevant information on the "Implementing the funding" page.
