Training and further education centers in the Rhenish mining area and northern Ruhr region
Attractive and sustainable vocational training starts with the training buildings. The state of NRW and the EU are providing around 75 million euros from the Just Transition Fund (JTF) for the modernization and refurbishment of vocational training buildings.
North Rhine-Westphalia is to become the number 1 state for vocational training. To achieve this goal, the state government wants to strengthen vocational training and make it more attractive. After all, initial and further training are the key to mastering future challenges such as the energy transition and digitalization. In order to train the skilled workers of tomorrow, a state-of-the-art infrastructure is needed. This is why the state of NRW and the EU are providing around 75 million euros from the Just Transition Fund (JTF) to invest in buildings and equipment for vocational training.
More energy efficiency in vocational training buildings
The funding measure is available in the Rhineland region - Aachen city region, Mönchengladbach city region, Düren district, Heinsberg district, Rhine-Erft district and Neuss Rhine district - as well as in the northern Ruhr area - Bottrop, Dorsten, Gladbeck and Marl. Funding is provided for needs-based investments in
- new, supplementary and/or modernization equipment for existing buildings as well as physical and/or digital teaching/learning spaces
- energy-efficient refurbishment of vocational training buildings
- energy-efficient new and supplementary buildings, particularly on former mining and other brownfield sites
Frequently asked questions
Vocational schools that are subject to the school laws of the federal states or state-recognized educational institutions with comparable educational offers, institutions of supplementary inter-company vocational training, institutions with special pre-vocational or in-service training offers, institutions for further vocational training, insofar as they impart the vocational skills, knowledge and abilities necessary for the exercise of a qualified professional activity within the framework of regulated educational courses, as well as academic institutions with state recognition are eligible to apply.
