Resource.NRW
A contribution to the climate: NRW and the EU support companies that invest in innovative measures to improve resource efficiency and transition to a circular economy.
The Paris Climate Agreement of 2015 aims to limit global warming to well below two degrees, and if possible even to 1.5 degrees compared to pre-industrial levels. Resource efficiency measures and measures to shape the transition to a circular economy can make a significant contribution to achieving this goal. This is because the use of resources, waste volumes, emissions and energy wastage can be minimized by slowing down, reducing and closing energy and material cycles.
Investing in resource efficiency and the circular economy
The "Ressource.NRW" funding program is intended to support companies in investing in innovative systems with a demonstration character that make a significant contribution to resource efficiency or to a transition to a circular economy and that are not yet used in Germany.
Eligible are:
- Investments to improve resource efficiency through the net reduction of resource consumption in the production of a given output compared to an existing production process of the beneficiary or to other possible projects or activities in accordance with Article 47(7) GBER. Resource consumption includes all material resources other than energy.
- Investments to improve resource efficiency by replacing primary raw or input materials with secondary (reused or recovered, including recycled) raw or input materials
- Investments in the prevention and reduction of waste, preparation for reuse, decontamination and recycling of waste generated by the recipient or in the preparation for reuse, decontamination and recycling of waste generated by third parties that would otherwise not be used, disposed of or treated in a less resource-efficient manner or result in lower quality recycled output.
- Investments in the collection, sorting, decontamination, pre-treatment and treatment of other products, materials or substances generated by the recipient or by third parties that would otherwise not be used or would be less resource-efficiently recovered.
- Investments in the separate collection and sorting of waste with a view to preparing it for reuse or recycling
Three submission rounds are planned for investments in innovative measures.
